Scott Dumas Calgary Comedian
AFTER DINNER COMEDIAN
Scott Dumas Bio
After Scott Dumas graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a degree in Psychology, he took the next logical step that anyone with such a prestigious certificate would make. He pursued a career in life insurance sales. Two years of commission-less paydays later, he took his sales and financial skills, as well as his knowledge of the human psyche and got a job hustling mortgages at Bank of Montreal. It took seven years before he put two-and-two together and didn’t come up with four. He realized that people are screwed up…. because of money. In 1997, he moved to Calgary, quit his job and decided to pursue something else. He had no idea it would be stand-up comedy.
Within six months Scott Dumas was performing shows for a major comedy club chain and within a year had performed all across Canada. He was a finalist in the Alberta’s Search for Funniest New Comic in 1999, and has showcased for the Just For Laughs in 2001, 2004, 2007, and 2010. He has performed for numerous corporate functions, fundraisers and golf tournaments as well as headlined clubs from coast-to-coast. He can also be heard on XM radio talking about gourmet pizza and his mom’s nipples. In his career he has worked with such accomplished comedians as Harland Williams, Tommy Chong, Emo Phillips, Lee Camp, Mike McDonald, Judah Friedlander, Ari Shaffir, and Gilbert Gottfried. Most recently Scott performed at the 2014 YYCOMEDY Festival in Calgary as well as the 10th Anniversary show for the prestigious and long running, Comedy Monday Night.
His fearless attitude and versatility as well as his comfortable presence in front of a camera landed him a job as host of M-Style, a “Maxim Magazine” type show on Men TV on the digital network.
He is a published writer who regularly contributed to Vex Magazine, a Calgary-based men’s lifestyle magazine and has interviewed and written articles on Tom Cochrane, Mike Keenan, Craig Conroy and Kaleb Toth.
He has also dabbled in modelling and acting, as well as voice overs and has worked on numerous photo-shoots, commercials, TV and movie projects including Klondike, Fargo, and Hell On Wheels.
This military brat has an overwhelming urge to travel and has taken him to over a dozen different countries. He saw the sun rise up over Tokyo, Japan on January 1, 2000 and has scalped tickets at the Olympics in Sydney, Australia, Salt Lake City, Utah and Vancouver, B.C. Whether it’s Watrous, Saskatchewan or Luangphabang, Laos, Doom will dazzle you with wacky stories about life on the road.
